Plane crash kills noted biotech patent lawyer

pAlbert Halluin and Judy Perchonock were 70 and 60 years old, respectively, but their relationship was young. They planned to be married in May - three years after they started dating - and spent every weekend at Halluin's mountain home west of Yosemite National Park. /ppBut the Bay Area couple's weekly routine turned tragic Friday night, when Halluin's single-engine plane plummeted into the backyard of a home near Pine Mountain Lake Airport in Groveland (Tuolumne County)./ppIt burst into flames, killing the prominent biotechnology patent lawyer from San Carlos and the energetic Redwood City grandmother. /ppThe crash, which hurt no one on the ground, is under investigation by federal aviation authorities. They said the plane, when it went down at 7:19 p.m., was just an eighth of a mile from the airport./ppThe incident came just two days after a small plane flying in heavy fog struck power lines and crashed into an East Palo Alto neighborhood, killing all three people onboard and damaging four houses.

pStewart P. Glenn, a partner in the Newburgh law firm of Glenn amp; Breheney PLLC is this year’s recipient of the Orange County Bar Association Outstanding Service Award. Bar Association President Steven I. Milligram, Esq. and Mr. Glenn’s law partner, Mary Fern Breheney, Esq. made the presentation at the Orange County Bar Association’s Annual Meeting held at the Fountains at Wallkill Golf Club on May 7th.
/ppAmong other things, Mr. Glenn’s service to the community included 10 years on the Board of Trustees of St. Luke’s Hospital in Newburgh, 14 Years on the City of Newburgh Zoning Board of Appeals, service as Campaign Chairman and President of the Board of Orange Area United Fund (now a part of United Way of Orange County), 30 years on the Board, including a term as Chairman of the Board and currently Emeritus status of Eastern Orange County Chamber of Commerce (now a part of Orange County Chamber of Commerce), a 30 year tenure on the Board of the Amos and Sarah Holden Home, an adult home in Newburgh and several years of work with the Newburgh Jaycees as Chairman of several projects, as well as serving as Treasurer and President. | pAn attorney for a prominent New York City lawyer accused in a $700 million fraud says his client will plead guilty next month to all the charges he faces./ppDefense attorney Gerald Shargel said Monday his client Marc Dreier (DRY'-ur) will enter the plea May 11 to securities fraud, wire fraud and money laundering charges./ppShargel says Dreier wants to enter the plea to demonstrate his acceptance of responsibility and his profound remorse./ppUntil December, Dreier had led a law firm with 250 attorneys and celebrity clients. He was arrested after hedge funds complained he was stealing from them./ppProsecutors say the 58-year-old could face a maximum of 30 years to life in prison./p |
